Ormond Castle
Directly opposite CastleView, Ormond Castle is one of Carrick-on-Suir’s great historic landmarks and one of the finest examples of an Elizabethan manor house in Ireland. Built in the 1560s by Thomas Butler, 10th Earl of Ormond, the castle is known for its magnificent Long Gallery, Tudor interiors and remarkable decorative plasterwork. Suir Blueway Tipperary
Just a short walk from CastleView, the Suir Blueway is a wonderful way to experience the countryside and riverside scenery around Carrick-on-Suir. The 21 km walking and cycling trail follows the River Suir between Carrick-on-Suir and Clonmel, passing through Kilsheelan along the way.
Take a leisurely stroll, hire a bike locally or make a day of exploring the route, with beautiful scenery, historic landmarks and plenty of places to stop along the way. For those looking for something more adventurous, the wider Blueway also includes paddling routes along the River Suir.
The Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark
Stretching along County Waterford’s spectacular coastline between Tramore and Dungarvan, the Copper Coast is a beautiful day trip from CastleView.
